These days, restaurants are getting more and more costly to open. With the economy in the situation that it is, people are going out to eat less. That means that the restaurants that aren't so good are going to die off, leaving only the strong to survive. You're here because you want to know how to be one of the strong.
That means its just that much more important to get your restaurant designed correctly the first time. After all, you want to renovate your place as little as possible, especially when it comes with a k price tag!

To you, the restaurant owner/designer/manager, this means that you want to come up with a workable idea for your restaurant design. In other words, you need to come up with a system for how your restaurant is going to run before you decide on your theme. For instance, a fast paced restaurant with lots of traffic from the servers should have clear pathways for the servers. Generally, this is a good rule of thumb for any restaurant, but more so in a fast paced place.
Then comes the eternal debate: Should you buy cheap furniture and save on cost, or should you invest a little bit more money and get some higher quality stuff?
Personally, I'm of the opinion that you should buy higher quality stuff, especially if you plan on getting quite a bit of use from it. This may seem counter intuitive. After all, if you're going to get a lot of use out of something, doesn't that mean its going to break down faster? And if it breaks down fast, doesn't that mean you're going to have to replace it? And if you have to keep replacing it, isn't that going to cost you more in the long run?
Yes, that line of thinking is absolutely correct. However, it fails to take into consideration one thing: when you compare dollars to lifespan, higher quality furniture is always a better value than the cheap stuff.
Of course, however you choose to proceed is entirely up to you. That being said, when you do purchase all of your furniture for your restaurant, make sure that you go with one style and only one style. Unless you've planned ahead of time to partition your restaurant into different sections with different styles, but chances are you're not some visionary trying to create the restaurant of the future, and just want to open up a place where people can come to get a bite to eat.
If that's the case, then go with the tried and true formula for restaurant furniture: BASIC WOOD FURNITURE.
In most cases, wood furniture is going to be good enough for whatever the theme of your establishment is. Very rare cases might call for plastic, chrome or some other material. Although honestly, I can't remember the last time I voluntarily chose to eat at a place that had flashy metal furniture instead of just plain wood.
Finally, when choosing a furniture supplier, you need to consider how much floor space you have. If your supplier specializes in something that your restaurant is not built to handle, no matter how good he is, he's not right for you. Spend the extra time to find a supplier that specializes in your restaurant's theme, if possible, and you'll fit the mold you're trying to more closely, thereby increasing the association in your customer's mind between your restaurant and their perfect dining experience.
